My Approach
As a counselling psychologist I am trained in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), as well as psychodynamic and person-centred therapies. I have additionally completed training in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness and compassion focused therapy (CFT). My theoretical approach is predominantly integrative, meaning I draw on a range of theories and techniques to tailor therapy to best suit the person’s particular needs. This often involves looking at both the past and present.
I understand it is daunting to attend therapy with someone for the first time, therefore I try to make it as comfortable an experience as possible. Our first meeting is a chance for me to listen to you and understand why you’ve come to see me, as well as an opportunity for you to see how I work and discuss how therapy might be of benefit to you.
